General Eye fatigue during exercise

Hi all

I had severe myopia since young, currently about 1100 degrees per eye. Recently when I went swimming I noticed that sometimes my eye would get very tired as I was exerting myself; and as such i would need to alternate between shutting my eye (for about 4-5 seconds) and opening them again as i swam through the water.

My question is actually this: Does the severity of myopia cause one's eyes to be tired when one is exerting itself? I have always wondered if this is due to the lack of oxygen to the eye ( or some other phenomenon). Could anyone kindly enlighten me on this?

Many thanks.

I doubt this is due to fatigue. Is it due to the chlorine?  Not due to lack of oxygen.

Hi

It shouldn't be due to chlorine,as i do wear googles when swimming and generally no water gets into my eyes.
