Ghosting after cataract surgery

by vo123, Jan 12, 2008 01:31PM
I recently had cataract surgery using Rezoom lenses.  I am experiencing what is called ghosting; a shadow around images.  This is most troublesome in my distance vision.  My doctor tells me everything is good and my vision is 20/25; however, I feel like reaching for glasses.  Will this eventually go away?  I suspect this is something inherent in Rezoom lenses and I am doomed to seeing double.

Not likely. Read other postings related to rezoom and ghosting. I'm saying this based on my own experience. Somethings may improve with time if you are lucky, however, ghosting is not one that will improve

In time there should be an improvement.  Your brain will eventually filter out much of the conflicting information that your eye is now receiving.  This process is called Neuroadaptation.  However, the ghosts and halos may not completely go away.  Neuroadaptation time for multifocal lenses can be 6-12 month or longer.  I still have some ghosting after one year (different multifocal IOL).

If you put ReZoom into the MedHelp search engine (at the top-right of this page) you will find many posts on difficulties adapting to this lens.
