Glasses for HIGH myopia??

Hi...I was born with high myopia particularly in one eye (-23 R and -10 L). In my mid 30's (I am now 43) I developed macular degeneration in my right eye and underwent some treatment (Luncentis injections) 2 years ago - as part of a research project. I am unsure how much this has helped as my eye continues to deteriorate (maybe the treatment has slowed the deterioration, unsure). As i wear contact lenses ALL the time, at times i have been advised to give my eyes a rest too (...as sometimes I do get red eyes). I very much dislike wearing glasses. Firstly, my vision is not as good in glasses and secondly they look so awkward and horrid. Yet, I would like to get used to wearing my glasses more often. Can you tell me, is there any new technology out there for those with scripts like mine – for glasses ???

No, these are not Lenticular (Myodisc).

Which country do you come from?

I found a firm offering 1.9 High Index lenses beyond 15 diopters:

To calculate the glass thickness of the lens edge in dependance of diopters and index there is a program download (in german):

What glasses do you wear?

I am wearing small diameter high-index glasses.(-10; -15) Something like this:

The width of the lenses should be smaller than 45 mm, the refraction index of the glass 1.9.

Short answer is no not really because the problem is the difference in image size generated by the two lens. THere is new lens technology the latest being wave front technology to craft a lens that matches the shape of the eye pefectly that reduces high order optical abberations but it will nothelp your problem.

You are likely much much much better off for having the lucentis injections.
