Glaucoma. What to expect in the future?

Glaucoma. What to expect in the future?

So i was diagnosed with Glaucoma in my right eye when i was about 8 the pressure was like 58 lol :P. Ive had 3 surgeries which worked only if i took 10 eye drops a day keeping the pressure at around 16-18 which was fine. Im now 17 and now apparently the surgery has warn off and my eye is basically scared over it so the eye drops arent working well and the pressure was around 30. about a month later i had a tube operation first month couldnt get the pressure off like 2 kpet having to inject some gel into the eye to put it up to about 8 after a while once it healed up it went back to its old ways getting back between 25-30 they done another operation to take a stitch or something out of the tube to let it flow better but it still didnt work and it was at about 34. after altering a few eye drops i just went back to the hopistal once a week to see if it was a change and it looked like iwas going to have to have some laser to help more or something but then the last week the pressure was down to 10 and pressure was draining nicely from the tube the doctor said. so its basically under control for now . my visual field is quite good i just about 5 blank patches out of the whole thing. and my vision is only really slightly blurred it only effects reading. ive never worn glasses or anything and it has never spread to my left eye . Im just curious on what will happen in say another 20? 30? 40? years will i end up blind or will they be able to continue to do things to control it?

It is impossilbe to predict.  Some eyes do very well for many years after a the tube surgery and others are back up in a couple of years.  As long as you don't miss your follow-up appointments, they should be able to catch any problems.  There is always hope that there will be new technologies and medications comming in the future that may make things easier.  Don't worry too much about it and try and enjoy your vision every single day that you have it.
