Gray around theeye

I noticed i have had a grayish ring around the outside of the iris. I have brown eyes.  My eye doctor asked me if i ate a lot of red meat and i said i used to eat tons.  She stated that should could tell because of the ring around my iris.  If that is true is this ring going to get larger and eventually cover the whole iris?  I noticed it about 5-6 yrs ago but payed it no mind i am now 39.  Is this a problem that i should get checked out to prevent any possible problems in the near future?

THat ring is called a corneal arcus. At your age it is not normal and can be associated with high blood cholesterol. You need to see your FP or GP and have a "fasting lipid profile" then you need to meet with him/her to discuss the results.

The ring will not cover your eye or cause loss of sight. It just looks like a white sidewall tire.

You need to see an Eye MD for a baseline eye exam. Fine one at www.aao.org and bring the ring to their attention.
