Halos when eyes closed

I'm trying to find out what is causing bright white visual "halo's" in my eyes. This generally occurs when I am waking up from sleeping. The halos are generally in both eyes at the same time, and can be very vivid white.....I'm not looking at anything when this occurs, as my eyes are shut, so it's not a halo around anything....it's within my vision.

It would seem more to be coming from my eyes than my brain making something up? It only happens when I wake from sleeping, and when my eyes are closed

This is in your brain.  I am not sure of the exact cause.
