High IOP

by jhilam, Sep 28, 2008 08:35AM
I have high myopia(13 for both eyes) and also high pressure (20-R,  22-L)-recently diagonised.
My field test has been normal. Can I go for lasik (power correction) and what is the probability of developing glaucoma. I am 23 years old.

Your IOP is probably higher inside the eye because you likely have thin corneas which make the IOP appear lower than it is.

Most eye surgeons would likely feel that you are a candidate for lasik.

You need a full glaucoma work up: visual fields, central corneal thickness measurement, stereo disk photos, gonioscopy, optic nerve OCT    prior to the surgery.
