High Miopia

Dear Doctorm

This is for my Cousin who is high Miopic since childhood. She is now 42 year old and has started losing her vision.
Both the eyes are weak but one which was still better than the other has been diagoned with cataract. The Doctors have suggested to avoid (cataract) surgery for the time being.

what can be done now, how can we help her.

Need your reply asap.
Regards

What is the reason the doctor wants to avoid cataract surgery for now?  Is this doctor an optometrist or an ophthalmologist??  Is the other eye not ready for cataract surgery and this is the reason for delay?  Cataract surgery can removed the myopia.  The two eyes can not work together if one eye (the non cataract eye) remain very myopic.  Your cousin's doctor may be waiting for the other eye's cataract to progress.
