Histoplasmosis or Macular degeneration?

Histoplasmosis or Macular degeneration?

My eye doctor told me I may have scarring from histoplasmosis in my right eye.  He has taken pictures and will watch it to see if it grows because if it gets worse it could be macular degeneration.  It appears that histoplasmosis is not only scarring but also a disease that could need further treatment.  He has not mentioned any further treatment.  My concern is that I went in because my vision was blurry and I got new glasses.  Two months later my vision was blurry again and he said that my vision had changed more in those two months than it had in the two previous years.  I got new glasses again and have had some type of eye infection going on for the last six months.  Any idea what this may be?

First of all it is extremely important that you be under the care of an Eye MD ophthalmologist not a non-physician optometrist. If you are not seeing an Eye MD then get in to see one. Find one near you at www.aao.org

Generally ARMD and histo don't look that much alike. Second neither one should be changing your glasses that often.

If you are seeing an Eye MD get a second opinion from a retina specialist ophthalmologist.
