How long will my eye lid skin improve following edema from allergic reaction.

I had a bad allergy to Rimmel eye shadow 10 weeks ago. My upper eye lids were very swollen and I had edema. The swelling has now gone down a lot but there is still a slight puffiness and slight discolouration. After the first month when most of the swelling came down I was left with saggy extra skin, this has improved only very slightly in the last 6 weeks. When lubricated they tend to sit up better but present with an extra crease and roll of skin which is twice as big on my right eye as it has more loose skin than the left. I have never considered plastic surgery before but my eyes have suddenly aged 20 years. My gp says not to do anything for 3 or 4 more months as they may improve further but I would love to have an opinion of a skin expert as to how many months they may continue to improve before I know that that is what I am permanently left with, because at that point I will access them and consider a procedure to remove any remaining redundant skin.

I believe you GP is correct and I would not consider surgery until you see the appearance in 4 months. You can also ask your GP about using over the counter steroid like Cort 10 or Cort Aid  a couple of times/day for a couple of weeks to see if that helps. Not for long term use. Keep out of eye.
