How long?

If you had a trauma to the eye, when is the most dangerous week that a retinal tear or detachment can occur? In my case, it had been about 4 1/2 weeks since my trauma and haven't had a retinal tear yet,so I was wondering when most RD occurs after an injury. Can it detach a year after? Also, I haven't had any flashes yet, so is that a good sign. For now, the doctor said I suffered a bruised retina which should heal on its own.

BIggest risk is right at the time of the injury, declining over the next several months. After 6 months risk is low and stays low over longer periods.
