Hyperopic Shift

Hyperopic Shift

I went to my optometrist in February, and was told that my prescription had a 50% change over the last year. I had my blood sugar checked, to include an A1C. That all came back normal. Since then, my eyes have been constantly changing. For example, I saw her last Tuesday and Friday, and the prescription had changed in that short of time. My distance vision has improved enough that I cannot see well up close and need glasses to read and use the computer. It changes so frequently that it is pointless to get the prescription changed, so I have constant eye strain and headaches. There doesn't seem to be an answer so far. I have an appointment for an ophthalmologist and a retina specialist coming up. I just wish it would stop..... Has this happened to anyone, or has anyone heard of this? Please help......

Dear princejlynn,

I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD and ask for a prescription check with your eyes dilated. This will help to determine your “true” prescription, when you cannot strain your eyes.

Thanks for the response Sandy. I had this done last Friday, and she took my prescription before dilation and after. They matched. She said that a normal change in prescription is 1/4 of a step or so.....I have changed 5 steps in the last year. Any other suggestions? Thanks again.
