I need good advice

by eyeseeu, Apr 09, 2009 01:54PM
I am a female in my late 30's suffer from an auto immune disease(celiac sprue) came in contact with someone with the herpes virus.  Long story short it effected my eye. No lessions just cornea red and swollen causing severe pain to my eye the bones around it just killing me.  Went to the eye doctor he prescribed tobradex made it worse, now I've been using xibrom no difference pain is still bad.  This now has been going on for I'd say a week now.  Not getting the proper obviously treatment.  So I'm just I need advise.please

Please see an ophthalmologist that is a cornea specialist.  What you are explaining to me sounds very confusing and your message isn't clear.  You could mean herpes simplex or herpes zoster (shingles.)  Zoster can be treated in certain cases with steroid or anti-inflammatory drops while herpes simplex can be made worse with steroid drops and non-steroidal drops.  Sometimes in very advanced cases of herpes simplex cases, steroids can also be used (with antiviral coverage.)  In all these cases, antiviral drops and or pills may have a certain place.  As you can see the situation is more complicated than you realize and it requires a very careful  personalized approach since no 2 cases are the same.
