I need help!!

I am a 41 year old female who has recently been diagnosed with open angle glaucoma.  I no longer have medical insurance due to my husband's disability.  I tried getting Medicaid but was denied because they told me I would have to be disabled in order to get it.  I am a surgical technology student and do not want to be disabled.  I only want to be able to have my glaucoma managed so as not to lose my eyesight.  My question is this...Do you or anyone else know of anything I can do, any type of program or organization that may be able to help me to pay for testing and such.    If so, please let me know.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Call local Lions Club, or division of blind services, or vocational rehabilitation in your county.  Drug companies can sometimes provide free drops but the ophthalmologist would need to fill out the papers.  In the future you may be getting a job with better benefits so that is a plus.  Some glaucoma drops only cost $5 at wal-mart!
