I think I've had a stye for a month

I am a 26 year old female.  About a month ago I had a stye on my upper eyelid.  After a few days when the swelling wouldn't go down I went to my eye doctor who prescribed me doxycycline and a sample of maxitrol cream to use at night.  In a few days the swelling was gone as well as the pain but I continued to have this heavy feeling on my eyelid as well as a tiny red area where the stye was.  The white dot that I had is gone as well.  I went back to a follow up appointment where my doctor told me to keep taking the medicine and apply heat and it should clear up.  It has been a month now and that heavy feeling is still there...all the time...and it is driving me crazy.  Could I really still have the reminents of a stye a month later after taking all this medicine?  My eye never had this heavy feeling before but could that be the result of somthing else?

HI NIkki,
This sounds similar to what I've posted above about my 5 year old son.   My son still has that white dot- what your white dot on your eyelid or eyeball? My son's is directly on my eyeball, that's why I'm so concerned...

It can takes months to clear.  This is similar to a pimple, after it pops it may take months for the residual hardness to go away.  Some times the stye becomes a chalazion and it may have to be removed surgically in the office.
