INTERMITTENT EXOTROPIA

Is strabismus surgery (bilateral lateral rectus recession) safe and effective? We are so worried that our 9 yr old daughter is advised to have that kind of surgery because of her intermittent exotropia. Thanks.

Dear cecilledaed,

Yes, strabismus surgery can be effective and as with any surgery, there are possible risks and benefits.  Ask your eyeMD more questions and obtain answers so you feel comfortable with the recommendation.
