Dear portlandbirdman,
It does sound as if your IOL may be causing the pain as well as the bleeding. I would recommend that you see one of the following doctors in Portland. They will be able to advise you on the best course of treatment given your ocular conditions. Here are a few names, Jennifer Balentine, 503-227-6568, Steven Mansberger 503413-6453. You can find more eyeMD’s by looking at the AAO.org www site, find an eyeMD.

As an addendum I found out today from the ultrasound technician who tested me that it is the IOL lens itself that's pressing against my iris (on one edge of the IOL lens). So it's not necessarily the haptic but the IOL lens itself that's ubraiding my iris.
I could live with occasional bleeding, but it's the gnawing pain that's the unacceptable part. I guess I'd need someone with enough gumption to either try a new lens via the haptic method or to sew one in.
