Incorrect Eye Prescription???

Incorrect Eye Prescription???

I've been wearing glasses since I was about 15 for distance (now I'm 31). I wear contacts on a daily basis (I believe my last prescription was like -2.50 with a .5 astigmatism?). The last two times my vision has gotten worse, not a lot, but enough. I tore my last pair of contacts the other day and scheduled a last minute eye appt. for a lenscrafters doctor.

He said my prescription got A LOT BETTER. My astigmatism got a bit worse, but doesn't think I should wear contacts for them. I don't understand how they got better - my last prescription was perfect (maybe not as crisp?)....he said I cannot wear my glasses and must wear these NEW, less strong contacts for a week and come back.

Here I am - at home with these "new contacts and prescription) and nothing is clear and crisp from a distance. I clearly see MUCH better with my previous prescription. I am so annoyed and I don't know what to do. I can't afford to go and get another exam from somewhere else. Any insights on what is going on????

You need to go back to the doctor with your old contact lens and have the vision compared.

I don't have any more contacts, but the prescription, I believe, was the same. I should also mention that I am 15 weeks pregnant with my 4th baby, so another reason I am reluctant to change my prescription so drastically. I am thinking maybe I should keep my "old" prescription until the baby is born and then get my eyes rechecked? I don't know...I am just very frustrated that I have to go back. I've never had this happen before.

Do I need to give these new contacts a full week or can I call him now? I have had a headache all day. Last night when I removed my contacts, I put on my old glasses to watch TV in bed and my vision was noticeably better (and more comfortable). I am not sure I want to wait a week - I have always had noticeable improvement after a new prescription, not an adjustment period!

Pregnancy can cause a change in refraction.  Usually more myopic. I only change contacts (temporarily) if the patient needs the change to function. You need to see your doctor and let him know that you are pregnant.

He knows!!! Is this guy even worth going back to? It's very frustrating - I have never had an issue such as this before.
