Inflammation in the eyes

Inflammation in the eyes

Last year I started to have problems with redness in the eyes.  Tears, inflammation (no bleeds), and eventually sensitivity to light, with my eyes eventually unable to stay open for any length of time.  The first doctor I visited said the problem was my contacts and that the blood vessels in my eyes were growing into my corneas, which would have eventually built up scar tissue, and then blindness.put me on Zylet.  It worked for a while.  Back to redness

I got tired of him and tried another doctor who told me the problem was a virus.  Back on the Zylet, plus Systane to smoothe out abrasion.

The Zylet worked, again, and then back to redness.

Try a doctor from the Wills Eye Institute in Philadelphia.  He says that its a allergic reaction.  He doesnt seem to care what is causing it, so I made an appointment for an allergist.

I dont seem to be able to get a doctor to do anything but treat symptoms.  No one cares about the cause.

Any ideas?  About any of it?

thanks
Steve

If you are still wearing your contacts, then that could definitely be the cause.  Some people just don't do well with contacts and have to stop wearing them and just wear glasses or even consider refractive surgery.  It is ok to see an allergist if you want to find out exactly what you are allergic too.  Sometimes it can be something that is difficult to avoid and chronic oral allergy medications and allergy drops are needed, regardless.  I;m all for trying to find the cause but you will need to get off the contacts in the meantime.  Why don't you call Will's and explain to the nurse what your concerns are and ask for the doctor to call you back and recommend the best course of action since you are not satisfied with his progress so far.  Give him a chance to respond to your concerns and questions.  I suspect that he wants to help you - but you need to work together.  It is unlikely to be a quick fix.
