Is Lasik SAFE?

by jerrysgrill, Mar 05, 2008 04:22PM

Im planning to undergo Lasik in a few months from now and im a type of person who thinks not just twice but a hundred times before doing something, that is why yesterday I searched for any useful information about Lasik especially  how safety it is because I heard some people before who had a negative say about the procedure. After a few hours of research I found out that Lasik or corrective eye surgery is extremely safe when performed by qualified doctors. Like any surgical procedure, there can be complications, but the complication rate is extremely low.  Results of clinical studies indicate the chances of having a vision-reducing complication are less than 1%, and, there have been no reported cases of blindness resulting from laser eye treatment in the United States.
After ten years of clinical trials the FDA approved LASIK surgery technology in 1995.  Complications affecting vision after laser eye surgery are now reported at a rate of less than one percent. In fact, LASIK carries less risk of infection than wearing contacts. So I made a decision that I will go for it so soon. Wish me luck guys.  Ohh just wondering if this will help for some who also planning to have the same procedure like mine because I found a promo  “See For Free” Plan” 12 months no payment, no interest to help finance a new 20/20 vision in my2020 for sure it can save a lot of money to us. See you as clear as crystal soon guys :- )

Hi..very curious to know the outcome of your lasik surgery. I've been considering it myself and like you, do a lot of research. I've gone for the initial consultation to see if I'm a candidate and apparently I am. The thing that worries me is that my cornea is very thin and I was told its better if you have a thicker cornea. Also the following day after they did a bunch of testing at this appointment, I had a bunch of weird zigzaggy swirls in the sight and couldn' t read properly because the text looked all distorted. And this was just from the tests. So kinda worried about totally going through with the procedure. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.
