Is a little bit WTR astigmatism benefit ?

Dr Hagan,
I read some of your previous post mentioned that a little bit WTR astigmatism may be benefit.
Can I know that the theory behind that ?
Let say for a regular person if he has astigmatism of 1.1D WTR astigmatism and mild myopia. Does it means we should have the glass/contact to correct only part of it (e.g. 0.6D) and leave some uncorrected.

Thanks

Unknown,  I have seen patients with up to 1.0 see 20/20 at distance and have better near vision.  Astigmatism in general drifts to against the rule, so have some with the rule astigmatism may be of benefit in the future.

How about getting a books on optics and prescribing glasses.
