Is corneal neovascularization permanent?

Is corneal neovascularization permanent?

I have worn extended wear contacts with poor compliance, basically forgetting that i even had contacts for long periods of time (months). I had no problems, except for some minor neovascularization, more on one eye than the other. I am trying to be better now, and have bought glasses to give my eyes a rest sometimes. Is there any chance of this getting better?

Dear shazbotmoof,

Corneal blood vessels usually are induced by lack of oxygen.  Without the stimulus, i.e. contact lenses, often the blood vessels will become inactive.
