Is it my eyes?

Is it my eyes?

For more than 4 years I have had forehead pain over my right eye, not a headache, but a pain.  I have had every treatment, acupuncture, visiting the pain clinic, various eye tests, all normal.  This past week I switched from glasses  to contact lenses (the right being toric as I have astigmatism).  For the first time in those years I have had no pain oer that eye!  Why is this?  Is it coincidental?  Do I need to return to the optician for a more thorough check of my eye as my father has glaucoma and I am worried this might be the start of it?  Why should contacts take away this pain when no other option has worked?  Is it just a coincidence?  Are the contacts better at correcting astigmatism than glasses?

Hi,

I am not a doctor. I am a community leader, and an eye patient.

Are you in UK?  I was wondering why you say "optician." Irregardless, you need to see an eye MD, an ophthalmologist, to give you an examination. He can check you for glaucoma, and give you better feedback on the pain. This is very important. Find one @www.aao.org. in the US.

The doctor will review my post.

Welcome to our community.

I am in the UK and I meant ophthalmologist, sorry.  I have had eye tests in the past and they have not come up with anything to do with my eyes for this forehead pain.

If you have already seen an eye MD, wait for Dr. Hagan's response.

Dr. Hagan will review your post. Sorry for the delay. As you know eye doctors are very much needed everywhere. We are so fortunate to benefit from his expert help.

The contacts anesthestize the cornea. Your history suggests the cause of the pain is on the surfact of the cornea. I would return to the Ophthalmologist and discuss why he/she feels this is happening

I have made an appoitment to see an opthalmologist, however I am doubtful if they will find anything wrong as they haven't in the past.  I must say that after 10 days free of pain it returned today with avengence.  Always in the same place, the forehead over the right eye and a pain and not a headache and is so bad I have to take pain killers straight away or it will immobilise me.  Thanks for listening.

If the ophthalmologist finds nothing see a neurologist.
