Is it okay to wear an eye patch after having a vitrectomy following eye trauma?

to briefly summarize my history - I suffered an open globe rupture when a screwdriver flipped back into my eye while I was prying on a board. I had repair surgery, and a b scan two weeks later revealed a shallow detachment at the bottom of my retina. Subsequently, I went in for a vitrectomy and retina repair, with silicone oil placed. Vision is very poor in that eye - I can count fingers at 4 feet, very blurry, and a few black spots in vision. I've been using an eye patch the last few days, which seems to help tremendously with functioning. Am I doing myself any harm by using the patch for extended periods (most of the day)?

These injuries and the subsequent surgery are intensively unique and its not possible to generalize. You should ask your Surgeon Monday. Also ultra high lifelong need to protect the uninjured eye from disease or injury. That means wearing glasses all the time (even if not need custom RX) and avoiding high eye injury activities and safety GOGGLEs for that which cannot be avoided. Also living healthy lifestyle since many disease can damage "good" eye.
