Is my daughter's eye infection truly a bacterial infection?

Is my daughter's eye infection truly a bacterial infection?

Hello, I just took my daughter to our family doc for a swollen kinda red eyelid on 7/2/08.  Doc said it is conjunctivitis or bacterial infection. My daughters eyeball is not red and there is no drainage. On 7/3 her kinda red eye lid is now a very red/reddish purple color with a little swelling. Is this truly conjunctivitis or is this more serious?  Is this a staph infections of the eyelid? Thank you for your time.
Sincerely Yours,
Jen

In conjunctivitis the eye is usually red or pink and there is a pus discharge or at least watery discharge. Your problem sounds more like an eyelid problem like stye, chalazion, cyst. See an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Yes staph infections occur on the eyelid. Very common even MRSA staph.
