Hi Dr. Oyakawa,
I think I may be suffering from computer vision syndrome. It started 2 months ago at work while on the computer, I have what I can only describe as a pressure feeling going up to my head, from where I'm not sure, I start feeling very off balance and weak like I'm going to fall out of my chair, when it passes, usually after about 4 hours, I feel a need to go to sleep. When I get up to walk, my legs are like jelly and I feel unbalanced, feel like I'm falling to the left. The first episode caused me to have a panic attack and with each further episode I can feel a panic attack coming on. I had an eye test 2 months ago and was prescribed multifocal glasses, also had photos taken because one of my optic nerves was bigger than the other, can't remember which side though. The pressure feeling seems to be left sided and my nose, cheek and eye on that side feels full, my eye just doesn't feel right. After these episodes my eyes are very blurred. I have only been able to put in a couple of full days at work for the past 2 months. I have been an audio typist for the past 20+ years and spend around 8 hours a day at the computer. I use a computer at home, I can feel it happening at home but not to the extent it happens at work. It usually happens in the morning. I have noticed deterioration in my eyesight for the past year or so, but just put up with it until this happened. I live in Victoria Australia and have tried to find an opthalmologist/optometrist on the net who is familiar with computer vision sydrome in my area so I can be tested - unable to find anyone........interested in your suggestions.

Dear Dr. Oyakawa,
Thanks for ur suggestion.I have got that done too..the number came to be 0.5 less in both the eyes than my present number.
However when the Dr. checked me again than he advised me to continue with my present number and said that a difference of 0.5 will not matter.
Before I had problems with computer and TV...now whenever I try to read anything(even newspaper) ..a pain starts building on the back of my head...
I am not sure as whether I should get myself checked from an opthalmologist or a neurologist?
I would recommend getting a cycloplegic examination ( refraction with your eyes dilated). This paralyzes accommodation and gives a true refraction. From this number get computer glasses.
