Is there a cure for flashes and floaters for extreme?

hi my name is al and i have had flashers and floaters since the age of 14 and am now 42 and have watched them get constantly worse for 28 yrs i have been to the eye clinic atleast a dozen times hoping that they can do something to help me but every time i have left dissapointed. i am getting quite desperate now for some good news but as you can imagine after 28 yrs i have all but given up hope but it is nice to know i am not the only one. i also do not go anywhere without wearing my sunglasses as the darker the better and if anyone knows of a miracle cure i would love to hear it

You should Google " floater talk". There are a number of people who have this problem and they share their their experiences. I had exactly the same problem for 29 years although the flashes went away after I had a PVD about 10 years ago. One year ago I had a vitrectomy for floaters in my left eye and as of yet I have had no side effects. I expected a cataract but one has not appeared yet. I was told at age 23 that my vitreous was very liquid ( due to myopia ). This problem is underestimated in what the negative affect it can have on a persons quality of life. After a while you have to make a informed decision on what to do.

there is no evidence of any kind of damage to the eyes after a vitrectomy and my eyes are so bad now that even if there were risks involved i dont think i have a choice i wake up in the morning and dread opening my eyes for fear of them being worse so i feel i am willing to try just about anything
