Is there any eye surgery?

For my sister there is a problem in eye.She was informed that the connection between the optical nerve and the eye was cut and so  her eyesight can be gradually decreased and within a year she is having the chances of losing her eye sight.This can be true?

If it is means is there any surgery?

I would see a second opinion from a neuro-ophthalmologist. If the nerve is cut the loss of vision is usually instantaneious and then doesn't get worse.  If you live in the USA you can find a neuroophthalmologist at www.aao.org,   elsewhere you may need to seek out a medical school faculty. The optic nerve does not regenerate if sewn back together (like the spinal cord).
