Is this abnormal?

Hi There

The other day, I wrote a topic about how my left pupil was bigger than my right pupil every so often. I had gone to the optometrist and was told that everything looked great!. My pressure was 12 and 13, the optic nerve looks excellent, they both react to light, etc..... He did mention however that there was a slight difference in pupil size. He said it was less than 1/2mm.

I have a different but similar question today and was wondering if anybody could help me out. My left pupil has gone back to normal size and now it's my right pupil that is bigger than my left pupil. ALL DAY yesterday, they were both the EXACT SAME SIZE. No problem whatsoever. My question is, does sinus problems have anything to do with pupil size?. I noticed that today that my sinuses are acting up on my right side (my right pupil is larger today) and when my left pupil was larger, my left sinuses were acting up. I've always had bad seasonal allergies and am on flonase and claritin for them.

My doctor said there was no need to worry when my left pupil was slightly larger. He did however say that if it got any larger, to call him immediatly. My pupils have always been big!. When he dilates my pupils, he has to use the child drops because he said the adult drops would be too strong for my eye. My pupil sizes aren't abnormally large, but I've now noticed that the right pupil is now larger and not the left pupil anymore.

What could be causing this?

Thank you in advance for your time to answer my question!

Singulair should not cause the problem. Sinusitis or sinus congestion should not cause the problem. If you are using a vasoconstrictor type of nasal spray like pseudoephedrine or Aftrin there is a small chance that it could reflux from the nose through the tear duct into the eye. That's pretty far-fetched though.

If you wear contact lens and use vision or naphcon or other "whitening" drops that can cause it.

As long as you don't have other distrubing symptoms like headache, nausea, double vision, droopy eyelid, loss of central or peripheral vision just observation might be an acceptable course. If any of these develop you need to go to the ER or see a neurologist immediately.

I forgot to add a couple things!!

Whichever pupil is enlarged, the eye always feels dry. I use eye drops, but they don't seem to give lasting relief

Also, I realized something as I was just sitting here giving my son his bottle. Yesterday when both of my pupils were the same size, I had forgotten to take my "singulair". I took it last night right before bed, and today my right pupil is enlarged.

Could the "singulair" possibly be causing it?
