Itchy gritty eyes

by Aviatress, Jan 18, 2009 09:50PM
My 80 year old mother has itchy eyes.  She feels like both eyes have grit in them.  During the day she often has white matter come out of the inner corner of one eye and granular serum out of the other eye.  What causes this and what can be done to relieve the symptoms or get rid of the problem?  BTW, she had cataract surgery on both eyes about a year ago, & the symptoms haven't changed since the surgery.

Dear aviatress,

Your mom may have allergic conjunctivitis or blepharitis. I would recommend that she see an eyeMD to determine the cause of her symptoms and treatments.
