LASIK and ASTIGMATISM

I would love to have lasik surgury but I am told I have a bad astigmatism with my eye measurements of

Sphere   Cylinder  Axis
-10.25      -3.00      24   all on the right eye

-11.75       -2.50     172  all on the left eye.

If these are the measurements of my eye then I am assuming this is also on my astigmatism.  So would I be eligable for Lasik and it would it work and if it did work how much would it help.

Any advice would be great.  My eye doctor is not a huge fan of Lasik.

Thanks

The first number is (-10.25 and -11.75) is the amount of myopia. The second number (-3.00 and -2.50) is the astigmatism (lopsided cornea) and the third numbers (24 and 172) is the direction of the lopsided cornea.

Your myopia exceeds the amount that can normally be corrected with LASIK.

Besides contact lens your other options would be intra-ocular contact lens and refractive lens exchange. These both are new procedures and involve considerably more risk than lasik.
