LASIK surgery

by Karen__0__0, Dec 14, 1998 12:00AM

I am extremely near sighted with a slight astigmatism. I am 35 and have been wearing contacts for 20 years. My contacts are (-850) for both eyes and glasses are aprox (-1000). I'm located in Houston Texas and my eye doctor told me I was a great canidate but they do the surgery in Mexico. He said that there is better rated equipment there for my severe condition. I then called another center and they said they could do the surgery here in Houston. My question is is there equipment in the US that can correct my eyesight rather than going to Mexico? or is Mexico a better option? or is it better for me to wait for better equipment to be used in the US? And whenever I ask if they can do one eye at a time they always discourage it why? It would be a dream to correct my vision but since I am so blind without correction I also know what it is like to be blind and am a little anxious to risk what I have. Thank you in advance for your time and service.
