Lamellar Keratitis Not Following Survery

Lamellar Keratitis Not Following Survery

Hello,

About six months ago, vision in my right eye began to get cloudy. The eye is also dry, irritated, and sensitive to light. My ophthalmologist saw corneal inflammation and sent me to a corneal expert. He diagnosed me with lamellar keratitis, but indicated that my condition was rare. That is, this type of inflammation is typical following LASIK; however, I had LASIK surgery nine years ago without any complications.

The inflammation has not responded to aggressive steriod treatment. I am now being sent to another expert without much hope. Has anyone heard of lamellar keritis developing unrelated to LASIK?

Thanks for your input!

Dear eaw221,

Keratitis or inflammation or infection of the cornea can occur with eye injury, herpes simplex or zoster infections, and a host of other infections. I would recommend that you seek the care of a corneal specialist and begin a workup.
