Laser Eye Surgery

by Xum, Jul 23, 2009 02:26AM
Hi All,

I am a 23 yr old female. My eye sight is quiet weak around -6 for both left and right. I wanted to get my laser eye surgery done to get rid of glasses forever. I went to the dr yesterday, he did few tests and then he told me that I can never ever have my laser done because my cornea is very thin and they cant make it more thinner. Another thing he told me is that my Retina is weak as well, which he meant by spots. I did have this in my mind that he would say this because I knew about it already. Retina can be treated by laser easily thats what he told me.
I am quiet sad and depressed since he has told me that I can never have laser done. I just want to seek some information from professionals in opthamology, that if I have thin cornea, can I never have my laser done? What I read on the internet it says that there is a possibility of different method can be adopted. I do want to seek 2nd opinion as well. I am currently out of country. I shall be returning to UK in few weeks and thinkin to get 2nd opinion there.

One more thing. The last time I wore lenses on Sat and went to the Dr on Wed. Does that effect my cornea as welll or it might have effected my cornea? he said i am myopic!!

Please if anyone who have a thin cornea and still went for laser with hight numbers , share your views and experience and any experience dr to provide some useful information in this regard. As the technology is moving so fast, I was just wondering may be after couple of years people with thin cornea can still get Laser? No?

Help me. I am really depressed and sad to know this.

Thanks
XoXo

Set up a second opinion with another Eye MD ophthalmologist corneal surgeon that does LASIK. Also stop wearing your contacts for at least 2 weeks before going in. For thin corneas the eye can usually be lasered on the surface rather than n the middle of the cornea. PRK.  I think you will be able to have surface lasik
