Whether it is the right thing to do depends a lot on what you are doing it for and your expectations. If your reason for LASIK is to gain convenience, to avoid difficulties in sporting activities and so on then I think you will probably be happy with LASIK.
If you are doing it hoping for extra sharp vision better than anything you ever had, for the rest of your life at all distances, well, it might not exactly live up to expectations.
The other aspect to whether it is the right thing to do or not, is whether your cornea is thick enough and your eyes are otherwise suitable from a technical point of view. Only your eye doctor can advise on this after doing the necessary tests.
For moderate astigmatism, a LASIK eye surgery has proven effective, and gives you freedom from wearing glasses or contact lenses. This surgery reshapes the inner layer of your cornea (shaped like a football for a person with astigmatism), to treat astigmatism.
