Lasik following Crystalen to improve near vision

Lasik following Crystalen to improve near vision

Is Lasik done 1 1/2 years following Crystalens surgery to improve near vision usually successful or would it be better to wear glasses or contacts to be able to read?  What is the success rate of Lasik following Crystalens?

Dear  CASFein,

I would speak with your eyeMD to determine the best option for you.  If LASIK was performed on one eye, the distance vision may be worse.

You might ask your doctor about trying out a contact lens that allows you to read and if that would  simulate the result of  the Lasik correction you are contemplating.  I don't think Lasik would add reading to the range of vision you have now, rather it would make you a degree more nearsighted and you would lose some distance vision. If so, the contact lens could help you decide.
