Lasik operation and optic nerve lesion

Can Lasik operation causes optic nerve lesion?

Dear newhopeful,

LASIK is a procedure which is performed on the cornea or front surface of the eye whereas the optic nerve is in the back of the eye.  It should not cause an optic nerve lesion.
