Lattice degeneration with holes - treat or not?

Lattice degeneration with holes - treat or not?

Hello, I am a 29 year old female with -6.50 in both eyes. I was diagnosed with lattice degeneration with 2 holes in my right eye 9 years ago. The holes are on the top peripheral region, next to each other. They suggested laser treatment to seal the holes. But when we went in for a second opinion, the doctor suggested that I leave them alone and just keep monitoring them every year

I have been doing that (with different doctors) and there have not been any changes in all these years. Now, I went for a regular check up and a new doctor checked my retina this time. He says that the 2 holes remain the same, but they might 'merge' and thereby increase the risk of retinal detachment. He suggested that I get a laser treatment done to seal them.

My questions are:

1) Given that they have remained stable for 9 years, should I rush to seal them now?
2) What are the possible side effects of the laser treatment given to seal the holes?

Thanks

There is no agreement on which holes need to be closed, so even two excellent eye MDs may disagree.

Risks include holemight not clost leading to rd   reduced vision due to development of epiretinal macular membrane.

Personal choice at the end of the day. I would leave them.
