Left eye won't open completely

My grandson is almost 4 weeks old.  His right eye opens completely and looks normal, however, he does not seem able to open his left eye completely.  When his life eye opens it is like he is peering thru his lashes.  My daughter has has the pediatrician look and he is not sure what is going on but says to wait another 3 weeks before he will refer to eye specialist.  Should I be concerned that he should be seen sooner?  He was premature about 4 weeks.  thanks.

There is no reason to wait. Make an appointment to see a pediatric ophthalmologist on Monday. Droopy eyelid is called ptosis. Its often associated with weak vision in that eye.
