Lens Implants for Astigmatism

Lens Implants for Astigmatism

Are there any lens implants better than others for patients with astigmatism? Would ReZoom be a good lens in this situation?

There are two IOLs which can correct astigmatism, one made by Alcon and the other made by Starr.  Most doctors prefer the Alcon. These IOLs do not correct for presbyopia (near vision).

The presbyopic correcting IOLs,  Array, ReZoom, ReStor, and Crystalens do not correct for astigmatism and need a LRI (limbal relaxing incision) or laser to correct for the astigmatism.  These lens do not do very well with residual astigmatism more than 0.5 diopters in  my experience.

LRI are very successful in the surgeon is experienced doing it.
