Lens removal question.

Hi... I think I posted this elsewhere but I can't find it and I'm new so I may not have done things right.  So I will try again here.  Sorry about the goof.

My question is:  A friend of mine told me that she had to have both her lenses removed (long before they had cataract surgery) and wears glasses to see.  Can this be or did I hear her wrong?  I ask because I have an eye they has a very bad cataract on it and it's gotten so bad I can barely see out of it anymore.  I'd get the surgery but I'm afraid to.  I have CFIDS/ME and multiple food/drug and chemical sensitivities and not only does my body reject EVERYTHING foreign, but I can't take antibiotics.  So I fear my body will reject the implant.  Could I just have the bad lens removed and wear glasses to see out of that eye again?

What are the other problems that they can cause?  And could I get this done in only one eye, without taking antibiotics (I'm allergic to them and most other med's as well).

Implants are not rejected, the materials are almost totally inert. They can cause other problems that can cause them to have to be removed or replaced but rejection is not one of them

Mmmmm I had a feeling about that?  Have you ever heard of anyone's body rejecting an implant?  This is what I fear.

No you need an implant (IOL) put in the eye when the cataract is removed.
