Lifespan of the Sclarel Buckle

Hello all!  Just wondering what the lifespan on a sclarel buckle is. I had one put in my right eye 10 years ago due to a retinal detachment.  Will it be good for li

fe or will I have to have it replaced??

I have severe myopia in both eyes but the one with the buckle is a few degrees worse.  In fact, it used to be my dominant eye, and has since become "lazy" and my left eye took over!

Thanks!!

Yes a small % of buckles migrate, become loose, erode through the conjunctiva or "intrude" on the eye. I could not give you an exact % but likely less than 1-2%

Almost all scleral buckles outlive the people they're attached to.
