Little raised bumps on both eyeballs

by aorgan, Sep 03, 2009 09:32PM
Hi

My son who is 13 months old, for the past week has had red eyes that get better and then become red again, he does rub them, and I have been to the doctor and they said they are not sure what could be wrong, they recommended over the counter eye drops ... but nothing is changing, I have just noticed raised bumps around his cornea in both eyes, he doesn't seem irritated by it but I am of course concerned and I also thought it was becasue he is irritating his eyes. If you could give me any indication of what this may be that would be great.

It makes me wonder if he might have a significant allergy problem with allergic conjunctivitis or maybe even a more advance case of atopic conjunctivitis or vernal conjunctivitis - all of which are pretty much like allergic disorders to different extents.  Take him to see a pediatric ophthalmologist to find out exactly what is going on.  There are of course other possibilities so make sure to have it properly evaluated.
