Loose layer on eye (?)

I had a sore left eye about an hour ago so I was rubbing it alot, I looked in the mirror and one side of my eye was really red and bloodshot, I looked to the right, and something which looks like a layer of skin was 'scrunching up' against the right corner of my eye. I've cleaned it out with cooled down boiled water, added salt to a sink filled with cooled down boiled water and plunged my face into it. I've carefully tried to 'sweep' my eye with a damp facecloth and I saw that the layer moves about 2mm in all directions, the layer also seems to have some of the bloodshot blood vessels with it. I'm really beginning to worry about what this is, could you help me?

Dear DomDiddyDom,

I would recommend that you seek the care of an eyeMD.  It sounds as if you have a condition known as chemosis, which may result from an allergy and have been exacerbated by rubbing.  You should obtain an appropriate diagnosis and receive treatment.
