MYOPIA

i am 14 yrs old. have myopia of -6.5d in left and about -7.0d in right. i am very worried that my myopia will increase.i want to know how much will it increase.

That's very hard to say. You are still growing and so do your eyes.
In most cases of myopia the eye is too long.
I myself have -11D/-13D.
It is known that excessive near work deteriorates Myopia. So when you are a student try to have as much outdoor activity as possible.
Read at an intermediate distance, the book not too near.
It's not really known if this slows progression but it's healthy anyway.

thanks for the help i want to know that now you have -11/-13d but how old were u when u got myopia and how much was it then?

I was first diagnosed at the age of 6 with a myopia of -3.5D.

That depends on how much you will grow in the next years.

Doctor Hagan,  My friend who was highly myopic was told by her Opthomologist that hard contact lenses would slow the progression of her myopia.  My doctor at the time wouldn't even consider RXing them for any of his patients period.  His theory was that they would hurt the Cornea.  This was when contacts first came on the market.  Is there any proof or study that was done to prove or disprove this theory?   Soft contact lenses were not made back then.

i am 5 feet 5 inches tall.my father is 5 feet 9 inches.there are relatives such as my maternal grandfather and uncles who are above six feet tall.
