Meibomian cyst

Hi there, I have had a meibomian cyst for 6 months now and have just been put on the waiting list to see a specialist in October. It has been getting quite big about the thickness of an I phone and is about 1cm along the bottom of my eyelid in the corner closest to my nose. I have tried a lot of things such as the compress every night and it only gets more swollen and doesn't go soft at all. And my doctor also told me to wash the inside of my eyelid with baby shampoo and the put in fucithalmic. And that has done nothing, also have tried antibiotic eye drops and pills. It is quite purple and red on the outside and is very noticeable. And sometimes gets very itchy on my eyelid. I have also started to get a small one in the same place on my right eye. Will I be having an operation for this or will they just tell me to do something else with it? Is there anything else I can try to get rid of it myself? And will this be happening for the rest of my life? Please help

Hi there kodi03 I have also what I think is meibomian cyst my doctor said infected eyelash follical but have had for three months on lower lid of  left eye mine also lump inside of eye when you pull down and little bump on outside skin were all this is plus have you been getting any pink eye and irritation with yours as I have

You need to insist on an earlier appointment with an ophthalmologist.  The large chalaza on will need to be drained.  This is done by making an incision on the inside of the lid and draining the contents; there is no visible skin incision that way.  Stop the baby shampoo on the inside of the lid.  Instead continue warm compresses and lid massage.  There is no reason to wait until October; an ophthalmologist should be able to see you much sooner if you make some noise with your insurance plan!
