Melanosis Oculi

Melanosis Oculi

I read a 28 year old woman's question about this condition and she was not properly answered, in fact her last comment was ignored completely and it was posted over a year ago.

I have 2 different coloured eyes, the right is a greenish blue with a hazel centre and the left is brown. In the white of the brown eye, I have a purple discolouration, quite dark in some areas. I'm told by the eye specialist that this is called Melanosis Oculi. He says nothing can be done to eliminate this rather unattractive quirk. Is he correct? Does anything make it worse? For example, I take vitamin A tablets for a mild acne condition...could that be worseing the problem? Is there something that could improve the condition? I've read that licorice extract has a natural whitening effect on the skin...could it have the same effect in the white of the eyes?

Please get back to me, thank you.
