My 7 week old baby has blood shot eye in corner

My son was born naturally and without any complications. After taking him home I noticed he had a blood shot area to the corner of his eye (away from cornea). I assumed it had gone after a week or so as did not notice it, however I have just noticed it again today and wonder if it has been there all along. You only notice it when hes looking far left.
