My nine year old daughter has unequal pupils

by Rose887, May 23, 2008 11:38AM
My nine year old daughter has unequal but reactive pupils even in the same light. She wakens in the morning and is dizzy when she sits up and for some time after leaving her bed. She also becomes dizzy when she first lays down at night. She is not nauseated but more annoyed by the dizziness. She has persistent headaches both in the back of her head(at the jutout above the neck) and as a head band. The headaches are more of an issue to her in the early evening. She has begun to apologize for telling me about the headaches as if she were bothering me about nothing. I am alarmed because it has been so persistent for the past year and our nurse/practitioner is unconcerned by it. I had her eyes tested by an optomitrist and he gave her glasses for astigmatism which helped some but the pupil and headache problems persist.I of course worry about all types of worst case possiblities. Can you give me any direction or encouragement? Thank you so much, Rose

An exam by an optometrist is not a medical exam. She needs to see an Eye MD ophthalmologist ideally a neuro-ophthalmologist. Find one at www.aao.org
