Myopia and a brown pigment

Myopia and a brown pigment

Hi, I'm 21year old girl, with myopia of -7.5 in my right eye, and -6.25 in my left eye, and i've been wearing glasses and contacts ever since i was 12years old. It keeps deteriorating, and I am currently still studying, so maybe that has something to do with the worsening of the diopters? I also have slgith astigmatism, but it is the myopia I am more concerned about. Is there anything I can do to stop the worsening? Any vitamins, etc? Is myopia of this diopter very high? Approximately when will it stabilise? It increases around 0.25-0.5 dioptres yearly.

What chance do I have of getting glaucoma because of my myopia? I also have exotropia, but I've had that since I was born. Also, I have a brown speck on my sclera, but it's only on one eye. I wasn't born with it, but I think it might be a Nevus? It's very light brown, and around 1cm. Is that a nevus? It's not painful or anything.

But is there anything I can do about my myopia?
Thanks!

Myopia is normally due to a long eye. There is no way to stop the growth of the eye. If your child was growing and you felt he/she was just the right heighth and you didn't want them to grow more you can't stop the growth process. Same thing for the eye.

Food, vitamins will not help.    If your family history is negative for glaucoma and you live a normal lifespan the chances of getting glaucoma (most likley when you are in your 70s or 80s) is 2%.         You will need to ask your ophthalmologist about the pigmented spot.

So the thing you can do about your myopia is accept it. Wear glasses, contacts or have lasik. Have your eyes checked at least yearly by an ophthalmologist and avoid injury and stay in good health (don't smoke or get fat, eat good diet, etc)
